Terms of Use

These terms govern access to the Texas Authors Directory, its public records, and its author and administrator tools.

Effective August 6, 2026

Purpose of the directory

The Texas Authors Directory is an informational and historical resource. Inclusion is not an endorsement, certification of literary quality, or guarantee that every record is complete or current.

Acceptable use

You may search, read, and link to public directory pages for lawful personal, educational, journalistic, and research purposes. You may not disrupt the service, bypass access controls, introduce malicious code, impersonate another person, submit fraudulent claims, harvest account information, or use automated methods that place an unreasonable burden on the website.

Accounts and authorization

You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for activity under your account. Information submitted in connection with an author profile or claim must be accurate, and you must be the author, an authorized representative, or otherwise legally entitled to submit it. The administrator may request verification, deny or suspend access, reject a submission, or correct a record when necessary to protect authors and the archive.

Submitted content

You retain the rights you hold in biographies, portraits, book covers, and other submitted material. By submitting content, you confirm that you have permission to use it and grant the directory a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, resize, display, and distribute it as reasonably necessary to operate, promote, preserve, and archive the directory.

Do not submit confidential information, infringing material, unlawful content, or content that violates another person’s privacy or publicity rights.

Historical records and corrections

The directory is designed to preserve author records. Authors may update information but cannot directly delete a directory profile. Requests to correct, restrict, or remove information will be reviewed based on identity, authority, accuracy, archival value, safety, and applicable law.

Third-party links

The directory links to author websites, booksellers, sponsors, publishers, and other independent services. We do not control their content, availability, prices, products, security, or policies. Visiting or purchasing through an external website is at your own discretion.

Intellectual property

The directory’s design, organization, original text, branding, and software are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Author names, biographies, photographs, covers, trademarks, and linked materials may belong to their respective owners.

Availability and disclaimers

The directory is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work to maintain accurate records and reliable access but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, complete accuracy, or continued availability of any specific feature or external link.

Limitation of responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, the Texas Authors Directory and the Texas Authors Museum & Institute of History are not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the directory, reliance on a listing, an external website, or unauthorized use of an account.

Changes and governing law

These terms may be revised as the directory changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
